More on our Chilean Adventure

Chilean Patagonia. Just a beautiful place to visit during our winter months and their summer. Our group had a great time and experienced exquisite meals and hospitality. They were in awe of the scenery and of course the fishing. Here are just a few pictures to get started and more to come in the near future.

A Mountain of beauty.

Remote Fishing Op.

Not a bad place to be.

Just a beautiful spot.

How sweet it is!

Nate with a couple he brought to the net really fast. He
went on to numerous others. It was a good day.

Here's one of many nice browns Nate brought to hand
on remote water.

A nice chunky Brown from one of the lagoons. Hmm, must
be Santa's helper.

A nice bow caught on one of our SAO streamers.

Back at the lodge for a fire, libations, dinner and of
course plenty of stories.
Check back for more on the Chilean adventure. This is
just a taste.

Switch And Spey Day At Chagrin River Outfitters...

February 25, 2012
Will Turek Presentation starts at 10am
Fly Tying at 12pm

It's that time of year to get a few spring events going on at the shop. We figured with the influx of anglers swinging flies and the interest in Skagit Casting and Switch Rods this was a good starting point. This Saturday February 25th we are pleased to have Will Turek of Midwest Spey at the shop to do a presentation on fishing switch rods and swinging streamers for Great Lakes Steelhead. Program will cover terminology, casting, and actual fishing scenarios... Will's program will be a great introduction for those just beginning the process of casting and fishing switch rods, while being a good refresher course for those of us that have been at it for a while.
Greg Senyo will be in the shop showing us some great new patterns to swing for Lake Erie Steelhead. Tying will begin around noon, and will cover a few great patterns that trigger the predatory response and entice the grab from a Lake Erie Steelhead.
There will also be some Great Deals on gear, new fly tying materials, and more. Hope to see everyone at the shop!!!

Good to be back in Patagonia Chile!

One week down, with two weeks to go here at Picacho Lodge, Chile. The fishing was pretty good despite it was rainy, wet, and cold weather nearly our entire week. All our guests caught plenty of beautiful trout, and Christian, Claudio, and Martin worked extremely hard to make our stay at the lodge very comfortable and our fishing memorable. We have two more weeks of clients on the way, I will try to get a blog up every once in awhile when I can. It's kind of hard to get away from fishing right now... Here's is just a few photos from the week, I hope you enjoy them!

An angler stripping a few streamers at the "Rock Bridge"

Swinging streamers for trout on the Rio Picacho.

Bobby with an "EXTREMELY RARE" Rio Picacho Atlantic Salmon!

Take a look at the "x" spots and color, This Atlantic Salmon been in the river for a few weeks.

Fighting a large brown on Lago Copa.

Our guide Claudio with Bobby's Brown Trout from the picture above.

I'm stalking a large brownie on an un-named outlet of a Lago.

Got Him! I love educating a selective feeding trout! This fish was eating size 18 grey stoneflies, it's nice to see it all come together.

Here he is! He was pretty pissed when that stonefly decided to bite back!

Tough casting on some of the water here, but well worth the effort.

A fat brown from Logo Roosevelt.

Patagonian sunset.......what a fine way to end the day.

Our guide Martin preparing a traditional Chilean asado on the shore of the Lago Roosevelt at and old Gaucho camp.

I will update you when I can, so until the next time.... Rock On!

It Was A Grand Day...

It was nice to finally get out and enjoy at least one day during this extremely mild winter. We typically use the months of January and February to replenish the fly boxes, catch up with family, work on projects, and complete some of those chores that are overlooked during the fall. This year it seems old man winter decided to go on vacation? The Lake Erie Tributaries have remained open and it seems just about everyone, with the exception of myself has taken full advantage of the opportunity to fish straight through the winter.  It was so nice to get out...
